Welcome from the ARLDC Advisory Committee Convenor
Welcome to the 5th Biennial Australasian Rare Lung Disease Conference (ARLDC). On behalf of Lung Foundation Australia, the Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand (TSANZ), and the Centre of Research Excellence in Pulmonary Fibrosis (CRE-PF) we are delighted to host you and thank you for participating in ARLDC21.
This year, our innovative program will be brought to you in a hybrid format, with live conference hubs in Sydney and Melbourne plus live-streaming accessible internationally for registered guests. For the first time in the ARLDC’s decade-long history, content will also be available on-demand for a period of time post-event.
This year’s program includes clinical, radiology and scientific plenary sessions as well as abstract presentations. Patient education and primary care webinar events will also be offered in the lead up to the conference to complement the main program.
The ARLDC21 Local Organising Committee extends a warm welcome to our international keynote speakers, Dr Simon Walsh from European Respiratory Society, London, UK; Professor Athol Wells from Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK; Dr Kerri Johannson, from University of Calgary, Canada; Professor Johnny Vlahos from University of Texas, Houston; and Professor Jane Ko from New York University, New York. Our international keynote speakers will be joined by local speakers and Australian key opinion leaders in rare lung diseases. ARLDC21 is strongly supported by the clinical and scientific community and would not be possible without the significant and generous support provided by our event sponsors.
We hope you enjoy ARLDC21 and we look forward to sharing expertise and experience to continue improving outcomes for those impacted by rare lung diseases. Your active participation in this biennial event is extremely valued and will ensure it remains in the Australasian respiratory events calendar into the future.
